Introductions

Come in! (*pats couch invitingly*)

I’ve been doing the blog for a while now and I’d love to know more about the people who visit/lurk/comment and why you do. I thought it was time for us to get to know each other. You know a lot about me (5 foot 11 inch, french-speaking, tattooed bread-maker and ornithology enthusiast who enjoys wine, chocolate, coffee, hiking, writing and books) but I know practically nothing about you.
And I need to change that.

Sit down, have a cup of coffee

or a glass of wine.

Now tell me all about yourself:

Where do you live/come from?

Are you an avid reader? Across all genres or do you have a favorite?

Do you write?
What genre?

And if so are you agented or published?

And finally, is there anything that I can share about my experience that might be helpful to you?

  1. Hi Jo!

    *waves madly*

Love your blog! I'm a writer too, and a mom-of-three and an ad-hoc teacher. I live in Minneapolis (a city of leaf and blossom….until it snows).

I'm an obsessive reader, and I'm a big believer in reading *everything* – classics, nonfiction, mysteries, YA, picture books, sweeping sagas, romance novels, magazines, experimental fiction, hard sci-fi, stories with magic or zombies or fairies or private investigators in them (and sometimes all at once).

I'm a writer too! I've had a bunch of short stories published in different magazines, as well as some essays. I also have two novels coming out (summer of '11 and summer of '12) and a book of short stories in the fall of '11. I'm repped by the always-fabulous Steve Malk from Writers House.

Looking forward to meeting everyone else. Cheers, all!

  2. Hi!

I'm an amateur writer and chocoholic. Thanks for the coffee and wine! Do you fancy some choccie biscuits?

I love sci fi, urban fantasy, paranormal, chick lit, detective stories – anything not too heavy in fact. I'm an obsessive reader and always have at least one book on the go. I wander round with it under one arm and then forget where I've left it.

I've been writing mostly flash fiction lately but I'm going to do Nanowrimo again this year. I reckon I'm not up to getting published so I might as well enjoy myself! (I have CFS, so the energy just isn't there for serious writing.)

My blog is about books, writing, chocolate, cats and whatever takes my fancy. You're welcome to visit!

  3. Hi Kelly and Fairy Hedgehog! Familiar names and avatars. Thanks for stopping by and telling me a little about you.
Congrats on the novels to be published Kelly. Very exciting! Feel free to tell us what they are called and are about.
Everyone should check out Fairy Hedgehog's blog. I lurk over there often.

  4. I currently live in Utah and I like it here a lot. I am a new visitor to your blog. I am obsessed with dystopia in general and YA dystopian fiction specifically and that's how I tracked you down. I also like science fiction and most YA and MG novels.

I am not a writer, or if I am one I am not currently writing. I mostly focus on poetry when I do. I have not pursued any form of publication.

I think all of your experiences are helpful! I love seeing the way authors operate on so many different levels.

I try to review mostly sci fi on my blog and have been doing a lot of intense research on utopia/dystopia and hope to continue to share my thoughts about this experience.

  5. Just saw you commenting on Natalie Whipple's blog and I thought I'd drop by and say hello. I'm an aspiring writer from Alabama. My current project is YA Fantasy. I plan on checking out Feltus Ovalton. Happy Writing!

  6. Thanks for dropping by Anita! And thanks for your interest in Feltus. My new book- Ashes, Ashes, will be out next Summer. And the book I'm working on now is YA urban fantasy so always pleased to meet another fantasy writer/fan. Best of luck with your WIP!
