First Look/ Ashes, Ashes the German edition

Here’s the cover for the German edition of Ashes, Ashes being published in early July 2011 by Ars Edition.

What do you think of it?

It’s gloomy and monochromatic but I think it fits the mood of the book perfectly.

Now I just have to brush up on my German so I can read it.

  1. It’s incredible! I don’t know, I think I like the font better than the US version, but definitely gloomy and definitely worth learning German. (;

  2. I definitely like that Lucy and Aidan are tiny in proportion to the font.The letters might fall over and squash them. And the cityscape looks even more barren.
    I’m hoping it will be a glossy jacket though so it doesn’t look like just a photocopy of the original cover.
    Thanks for commenting.
    And I love your blog! So funny and clever!

    I am happy you like our cover 🙂
    And don’t worry, it won’t look like a photocopy. We will use a special paper for the jacket and spot varnish and other print finishing, that intensifys the design.
    It is such a great story!! We are all looking foreward to holding a finished copy in our hands :-))

  4. Hi Ulrike! So nice to hear from you. The cover sounds fantastic. Thanks! and I’m so glad you liked the story.
    Is it true that the pub date is early July? You did the translation so fast!
    Best,
    Jo
