A Life Bound By Books is running this awesome event all through October where they asked a bunch of YA writers to contribute a real-life spooky story.
They’re giving away a ton of signed books and swag every day, including custom-made bookmarks and autographed postcards.
You can win a signed hardcover or a signed audio book (your choice), and there will be two winners!
You can check out all the details here
And just to give you a little flavor here’s an excerpt from my haunted tale:
Our NY farmhouse predated the 1776 War of Independence by a few years. As someone born in England but raised in the States, this always thrilled me. Crazy King George was still dithering on his throne, and the American rebels were laying their plans and dreaming of their ideal republic when my house was already 10 or 20 years old. People had farmed, lived and died there, including the eccentric artist we’d bought the house from.
Creepy! And very nice too. Have you seen Susan Price’s blog, where she’s been doing something similar this side of the Atlantic? You can find some true life ghost tales from her and me and others, here http://susanpricesblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/true-ghost-story.html
She also runs the best cartoon strip ever.
Thanks for the link, Kath! Very cool! And the comic strip is hilarious!
I miss Hallowe’en; they don’t really have it here in Munich. (Oktoberfest with half a million tourists dressed up in Lederhosen and Dirndls drinking loads of beer and eating ginormous pretzels doesn’t quite substitute.)
I’m going to head over to take a look at your story to get me in the spirit. Thanks!
If they added candy perhaps it would serve? I don’t think much of their costumes though…
