And other fantastic words. (Short blog here (I know, everyone heave a sigh of relief.) By the way, I never mean to be long-winded but I find it hard to stop once I start going. I love words. I’d like to eat them. They’d be nothing like that canned alphabet pasta in its thin faux tomato sauce; they’d be rich and toothsome and there’d be layers of flavor and spices scenting each delectable mouthful and sometimes they’d sting your palate. So anyway I thought I’d mention a few of my favorite words and invite you to do the same.In the English language I’d include the following for the tantalizing way they trip off the tongue. Some of them are onomatopoeic (they sound like what they mean) and others are evocative- they whisper their meaning ever so softly.
The aforementioned DOLDRUMS
CRACKLE
WINCE
CLOTTED
LUSCIOUS
PIMPLE
ELLIPSE
INCISOR
RUBBISH
JUICY
IMBIBE
WHISKER
ERUDITE
WAGGISH
NINCOMPOOP
RASCAL
And in FRENCH I love the words:
CAUCHEMAR (which means nightmare) PAMPLEMOUSSE (grapefruit)
And CRAPAUD (toad- Because face it, a toad sort of looks like a big pile of…¦)
All ITALIAN words sound fascinating and romantic but I’m particularly fond of:SCOREGGIO (flatulence)
LUCE(light) PASSEGIATA( a walk)
And MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO (a very nice wine)
